The movie was shot in black and white even when colored films were all the rage, and the make-up that was used by the major characters (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) made their faces look green. Marilyn was undergoing rough times and scenes required so many takes (a maximum of 40 at the most) frustration may have had some lines dubbed over for the final cut of the film. The proposal scene caused a preview audience to erupt in uncontrollable laughter that it had to be re-shot for most of the spoken dialogue ended up being missed. Marilyn was pregnant during the making of the film which made her look heavy. Most still photos used for promotional materials had her stand in do the pose with Marilyn’s face superimposed later before publishing.

The movie had Bruce Willis as the head of a special forces Seal Team in the war torn Nigeria as they are part of the emergency evacuation force which aims to get all US citizens out of the country as it enters a brutal civil war. The movie was to be the 4th installment for the Die Hard Series as the sub title but was given it’s own niche due to the difference in settings. The film also lost one sky jumper, who dies when he drowned as the stunts were being filmed, landing offshore instead of on the beach. The knives used on the film were also if the Emerson brand being well used in law enforcement and military services. The film was also the first one allowed filming in a Nimitz Class nuclear aircraft carrier. There was also necessary two-week BOOT camp training for the cast as it was necessary for their knowledge of SEAL operations to make the film more realistic. All the SEAL characters were also required to refer to each other by their character names to improve seal interaction on and off the screen.

The film was the story of a guy who had to come up with a reliable source of income to prove his worthiness for shared Child custody. The actual inner shots of the film were patterned from the American Museum of Natural History whose outer shots were taken and used for the film. The film even increased the patron ship of the Actual Museum due to interest brought about by the film. Owen Wilson’s role was supposed to be a cameo one but his impact on the overall film had it integrated into the film. The license plate on the thieves van is the initial and birth year of the set dresser Guy Roland. The film was set to be filmed in Montreal but Ben Stiller was not happy working there but liked BC so it was moved there to give way to the actor’s preference.

The death of Diana Princess of Wales cost the film it’s sequel for rumors had her to play the part of the female lead. The awards night had several winners who were actually part of the production crew, such as Mychal Smith and Kay Colvin who won the award for “Best sound”, who were actually the boom operator and cable guy working in the scene. Nancy Garber who won “Best Song” was the film’s art department researcher and lastly, Leslie Morales who was one of the nominees for an unknown award was the film’s assistant location manager. The house which was used in the film was the same house used in the film “The Godfather”, in the infamous “Horse Head” scene. The ending scene which had Whitney and Costner dancing involved a camera move which had it travel up a track and transfer towards a circular one to follow the kiss, the cameraman was flung off the rig the first time they filmed it who hurriedly got up, got back to the camera (which by the way was still filming) and continued to film (they used that actual spinning shot in the movie)

James Bond

James Bond is considered by many of the author’s biographers as the romanticized version of Ian Fleming who was a womanizer himself. They both went to the same school, same career paths of Naval Commander, loved the same foods namely scrambled eggs and coffee and had the same stature (height). Fleming admitted that his work was indeed inspired somewhat by his service in the Navy’s Intelligence Division of the Admiralty which Fleming actually ranked in the UK Navy. His parents are Andrew Bond, a Scotsman and Monique Delacroix from Canton the Vaud, Switzerland, which were revealed in the novel Her Majesty’s Secret Service. His father being a Scot inspired praise for Sean Connery when he took over the role as James Bond.

The vision of Cameron of the Terminator was an insignificant character which would allow it to blend in with the rest of us in the likes of Lance Henricksen. O.J. Simpson was scratched due to the fact that such a nice guy would be too much as a ruthless killer. Arnold was listed for the role of the human soldier and Michael Bien was listed as the Terminator which as we all know was switched. The filming was also delayed from the spring of 1983 till March of the next year, because Arnold was chosen by Dino De Laurentis for Conan the Destroyer. The film was released and treated as a low-budget film costing only $6.5 Million Dollars turned blockbuster when it earned almost $40 million domestically and a total of $78 Million worldwide.

Indiana Jones

The first choice for the role of Indiana Jones was Tom Selleck and not Harrison Ford, for George Lucas has already cast him repeatedly and wanted to avoid being labeled as another Scorsese who repeatedly cast Robert DeNiro. Spielberg also wanted to do a Bond film and did not know anything about Indiana Smith, yes, you heard me right. The first name chosen for the film was Indiana Smith which Spielberg disliked and changed to Jones after a casual suggestion from Lucas. The outline of the main character (Indiana Jones) was decided on long before any cameras rolled. The Fedora (Indiana’s Hat), was so iconic that if it fell or was accidentally blown off everything stopped till it was back on Ford’s head which caused a re-shoot of the scene.

True Lies

Another hit from now Governor Schwarzenegger, which has him play the role of a government special agent who is after Jihad extremists out to do no good in America. In the climactic rescue of his wife, the woman hanging under the helicopter doing the stunt was no stunt double was no other than Jamie Lee Curtis herself. She insisted on doing the stunt herself for all the action sequences to add to her experiences as a veteran actress. After agreeing to the stunt she promptly touts director Cameron by asking, “As I’m doing all this, where would you be Jim?” James Cameron quickly replies, “Right at the door hanging out as I film you with a handheld camera!” quickly sending her to do her stunts. It should also be noted that the tandem panties and bra Jamie Lee wore were hers and not props.

National Treasure – Book of Secrets

Fear of piracy has the film copies titled, “Cinnamon” when they were delivered to theaters due to fears of them being stolen. There was also a sign when a real estate sign had the name Segar’s Realty which was actually one of the film’s executive producers, Charles Segars. The story again has historian Ben, hot on the trail of historical artifacts as he tries to clear the name of his ancestors who were implicated in the assassination of one of Americas founding forefathers Abraham Lincoln. His great-great grandfather was implicated to as being an accomplice in the former president�s murder and he is forced to travel to Paris, London and eventually back to America as they uncover more than they bargain for in histories most kept secrets to clear his family’s honor and reputation.

Brave Heart / Boudica

The movie was directed and the main character played by Mel Gibson. The movie was part historic and part movie fantasy for it depicts the War of Independence by the Scots who were fighting the British as they overtook their land. Then another lady character in the persona of Queen Boudica, also had the same exploits, this time a woman who takes over the throne of his slain king husband in the war against the invaders. Many of these movies depict actual facts based on historic accounts of epic battles which were to become history. Sir William Wallace, the true Brave Heart was the historic figure behind the movie and was portrayed by Mel.
