One of the best comedy films of all time, the Ghostbusters is one of those Sci-Fi comedies you just had to see but do you know that the film was marred by negative effects of John Belushi’s death who was supposed to play the part of Peter Venkman in the film and the character Winston was originally written for Eddie Murphy. The green ghost we all know as “SLIMER” was called onionhead by the crew due to the bad smell and was called the “ghost of John Belushi” by Dan Aykroyd. The film was supposed to have the Ghostbusters as part of emergency services as fire and paramedics were but the script was modified to show the humble beginnings of the group. The Ecto-mobile was originally black in color but the many night shots had it re-painted white for visibility purposes. There was an actual phone line that was set up for the film which when called had the characters telling people they were out on a ghost busting trip. The proton packs were fitted with flash bulbs so the special effects guys’ would know the precise frames of film where they should place the energy blasts as they were fired.
